Karin Heisecke


Karin Heisecke (she/her/hers) is a social scientist specializing in gender issues and international politics. After two decades abroad working among others with the United Nations and the international movement V-Day, she has been working as a policy and strategy consultant for German and international NGOs and foundations since 2010, as well as a lecturer and speaker on ending violence against women and girls. As an international expert for the Council of Europe, she advises governments on the implementation of the Istanbul Convention, is the author of the handout “Raising awareness of violence against women: Article 13 of the Istanbul Convention” and was involved in the “Mid-term Horizontal Review of GREVIO baseline evaluation reports”. Since 2016, she has headed the MaLisa Foundation, which promotes gender equality and diverse role models in media and culture.
