Pat Black (she/her/hers) is a long time activist for gender equality, both in the UK and internationally. She is a strong advocate for women’s human rights having worked for Soroptimist International for many years. SI is a worldwide organization of women working together and with partners to advance the status of women and girls, grounded in volunteer led projects and awareness raising campaigns. Her professional background in many levels of education has enhanced her view that education is so often the key to empowerment for women and girls, allowing them to find their own voice.
Pat has led the National Alliance of Women’s Organisations (NAWO) in the UK, working to develop the UK Civil Society Women’s Alliance, which initially focused annually on the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) activities including negotiations. Work continues on developing activity with the Committee for the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women as well as other UN and EU processes. She is also working with groups of young people in the UK to encourage their interest and understanding of international issues, and to engage them in action.
Pat is honored to be joining the W7 team.
