„Time to deliver!“ is the motto of the 2022 Women7 (W7) Kickoff on January 20. On the occasion of Germany’s G7 Presidency, the National Council of German Women’s Organizations, Deutscher Frauenrat, invites representatives of international civil society to celebrate the start of the W7 Dialogue. Together, they call upon G7 Leaders to deliver on promised commitments on gender equality.
“The leadership of feminist voices, including from the Global South, are essential to developing effective responses to the challenges of our time. Gender equality must be the basis for G7 discussions and decisions to address these challenges. The German Government must show a clear commitment to listen to these voices” says Dr. Beate von Miquel, President of the National Council of German Women’s Organizations.
Jessica Woodroffe, former W7 Chair and Director of the Gender & Development Network, adds to the occasion: “We are happy to hand over the W7 Presidency to the National Council of German Women’s Organizations today. We expect the German Government to deliver on the promises of past G7 presidencies and include concrete political and financial commitments on gender equality in its outcome. Only together we will achieve a gender-just transition to a sustainable future!”.
Women7 is a group of civil society organizations that come together to promote proposals on gender equality and women’s rights within the G7 process.
The National Council of German Women’s Organizations is hosting the 2022 Women7 Dialogue during Germany’s G7 presidency. As an umbrella organization of around 60 nationwide women’s associations and organizations, the National Council of German Women’s Organizations is the biggest women’s lobby in Germany.
