Dr. Ursula Schäfer-Preuss

Vice President, UN Women Germany

Dr. Ursula Schäfer-Preuss (she/her/hers) is an economist who has been engaged in the field of development policy for more than 40 years. She has always been active in issues related to human development, women´s empowerment, and support of civil society, focusing on vulnerable groups, children´s rights and the challenges of the young generation in a fast-changing global environment. She has been Vice President of UN Women Germany since 2013, Chair of Global Water Partnership, Stockholm (2013-2015), and Vice President of Asian Development Bank, Manila (2006-2011). She was the first female Director General of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. She belongs to the 100 founding members of Women in Global Health Germany, WGH-GER. She served as W 7 Advisor and Co-Chair of one of the Working Groups during Germany´s 2022 G 7 Presidency.
