Esther Mwaura-Muiru : An ardent Believer of Grassroots Women Power, Agency and Capacities Esther is Global Advocacy Director, Stand for her Land Campaign. The 1995 UN Women Conference held in Beijing China cemented Esther’s commitment to the value, leadership and agency of grassroots women. Her conviction is that sustainable progress only happens if people living in poverty and in the margins of development take centre stage to finding long term and sustained solutions. Previously, Esther worked as the Global Women Land Rights Manager for the International Land Coalition. She led the development of the Women Land Rights Collective Commitment, an important contribution to the Generation Equality Forum. Until 2017, Esther spent most of her career life (23 Yrs) with GROOTS Kenya as founding Director establishing transformative development approaches led by grassroots women An expert in Gender, Governance and Development, she has served in various platforms to advance women’s human rights.
