Megumi worked in GE Capital Japan for 10 years prior to the current role. After the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, she led a Women Support Team in evacuation centers and temporary houses complex and founded women’s support organization in June 2011, which focuses on empowerment of women who are active at grassroots level. In the context of local gender issues, Megumi founded “Grassroots Academy Tohoku,” a leadership training for the next generation, where over 100 young women participated since 2015. For COVID-19 crisis, she formed a research project of single parents with support groups and researchers, conducting 16 surveys from 2020 to 2022 and advocacy activities.
