Yoshiko Maeda
CEO, International Women's Year Liaison Group

The International Women’s Year Liaison Group, of which I am a representative, is an organization that brings together 34 NGOs working to improve the status of women and achieve gender equality. We have special consultative status with the UN ECOSOC. We have expressed more than 10 requests to the government per year and several statements from a gender perspective. On the other hand, I am a medical doctor and the president of the Japan Medical Women’s Association. From the standpoint of a female doctor, I have continued to raise the importance of gender equality and to improve gender inequality in Japan, and to make efforts for improvement.
